How does it work?

 

To gain 12.5 CPD accredited hours when using Own My Life Discovery, you will need to join and then complete our four online programme modules.  These modules take you through all our videos and activities in a structured way and your learning is assessed by our expert team.

The four modules available are:

Module 1: Abuse literacy

Helping you to understand how abusers operate, this module includes content on what abuse is, why abusers perpetrate harm, why it is difficult to both leave an abuser and move forward as well as specific content around how abusers use power and sexual control. (4 hours)

Module 2: Trauma literacy

Explaining complex trauma concepts in easy-to-understand videos, this module will give you literacy about how trauma affects our bodies, how you can better support traumatised people and new ways to help people make sense of their lives and circumstances. (3 hours)

Module 3: Wider society

Incorporating various aspects of female socialisation, this module looks at how women are harmed by society and offers different ways of thinking about women's place in the world.  Covering sexualisation and objectification in the media, women's rights throughout history and victim blaming, this module helps participants link the abuse women are subjected to with the wider messages they are subjected to in society. (4 hours)

Module 4: Moving on

This shorter module covers various aspects of moving on after a relationship with an abuser. Online and wider safety considerations, new dating relationships, and wider information about healthy relationships are all included within this module. (1.5 hours)

When you join one of our programmes, you'll be able to see your progress in the programme as you use it, or in your profile on the My Programmes tab.

When you have completed all four modules, you will receive a CPD certficate to evidence your learning.​
