Own My Life Discovery enables effective trauma responsive working. For practitioners, our platform can be used for:

  • CPD-accredited professional development.

  • Enhancing training delivery.

  • Building trauma-informed practice.

  • Enabling reflective practice.

When working with those who have been subjected to abuse, traumatised people or those with mental health considerations Discovery can be used to:

  • Build literacy about trauma and recovery.

  • Explain complex concepts simply.

  • Increase connections between the personal and the political.

  • Deliver one-to-one sessions with adults and young people.

Once you have subscribed to Own My Life Discovery, you can access our CPD-accredited self-directed learning pathway.  At your own pace, you can go through the Own My Life videos and activities, with all four modules giving you 12.5 hours CPD-accredited and certificated learning.

Discovery uses multimedia content to explain complex concepts about trauma and abuse in easy to understand video clips. There are also videos showing how popular culture reinforces or perpetuates sexism, rape culture, violence, misogyny, disrespect in relationships and abusive behaviour.

Through subscribing to Discovery you will get access to all of the video content, reflective practice resources, learning materials, and fun activities to enhance your practice and to use with those you work with. Our exciting platform is open to all, but will be particularly beneficial to:

  • Social workers.

  • Counsellors/therapists.

  • Teachers, learning mentors and youth workers.

  • Mental health practitioners.

  • Children's centre staff.

  • Community workers.

  • Probation officers and those working in prisons.

  • Youth offending teams.

  • Domestic abuse services.

  • Charities working with women and children.

  • Those who deliver training in health or social care.

  • Family solicitors.

Own My Life Discovery gives you resources to help those subjected to abuse to make sense of their lives.
